The Buffalo Dyke March was one of the first official pride events in the city, and was held every year on the Saturday before the Buffalo Pride Parade until 2019 when the event lost funding. In 2024, legacy Dyke March dykes contacted us with a list of resources, and a plea that we take up the responsibility of running this march. We were honored these older dykes saw us as their successors, and could not say no to reanimating the march. We aim to bring this political protest back to Pride celebrations in Buffalo. We chose the first Sunday in July, a month when corporations and public officials take down their rainbow banners and turn their attention away from the needs of the queer community.

We’re here, we’re queer, outside of pride month, we don’t go anywhere. We are tired of witnessing the disenfranchisement of dykes and our queer siblings. We believe in the liberation of dykes by way of the liberation for all. One is not free until we are all free. We believe liberation starts with autonomy over our bodies. Access to mental healthcare, gender affirming care, abortion, and other medical interventions are core to our collective search for liberation.

This event is free to attend, we welcome people of all ages and experiences to march with us. There will be a gathering at the end of the march, with preference given to women and trans people of color to address the crowd by microphone. Please contact us for more information.
